Important Notes (Please Read)
-
Barn door hardware is not included.
Hardware must be purchased before building your door, as slab dimensions vary by brand and function. -
These plans cover one door panel.
For bifold or multi-panel doors, simply build additional identical panels. - Lumber sizes are listed as nominal sizes (1x boards are typically ½” narrower than labeled).
Estimated Cost to Build
I used scrap lumber, cull lumber, and furring strips and my final cost for both doors was $20. Most builders can complete this project for approximately $70–100 per door panel, depending on lumber prices and finishes - compared to $300–800+ for a pre-made solid wood barn door.
